Branko

_ Branko is at the epicenter of contemporary Portuguese music. With his latest album “Soma”, the producer, composer, DJ, visionary João Barbosa (Branko) has challenged himself to raise the bar even higher. The album is the result of in-depth study, research, travels and production, where the artist presents his versatile universe of musical composition. Branko invited musicians into the studio to add harmonies and melodies to his productions.

For “Soma”, Branko travelled between Lisbon, London and Rio de Janeiro. “Nuvem” (feat. BIAB), “Agenda” (feat. Bryce), “Found My Way” (feat. Carla Prata) and “Slide” (feat. Jay Prince) are some of the tracks of his latest work.

Stage wise, Branko brings musicians to accompany him, in what is an exercise in recreating the atmosphere of his most recent album. With “Soma”, the artist has performed a bit across the whole country, at Coliseu dos Recreios (Lisbon), Cine Teatro Louletano, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, Ti Milha (Pombal), FESTA (Ovar), Casa das Artes de V.N. Famalicão, Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (Porto), Teatro das Figuras (Faro), N2 (Chaves), and also on international stages, such as London, New York, Toronto, Montreal, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, among others.

A different chapter begins for the founder of the unmissable Buraka Som Sistema, curator of festivals line-ups across Europe, as well as the acclaimed TV show Club Atlas. Branko has been a central force behind a distinctive sound that is increasingly breaking down barriers.
